The Royal College of Ophthalmologists of Thailand

The executive committee of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists of Thailand (RCOPT) consists of a president and 22 council members. The current President is Associate Professor Sudarat Yaisawang, the Secretary is Assistant Professor Sakchai Vongkittirux, and the Scientific Chairman is Associate Professor Prin Rojanapongpun. Current members total 850. The RCOPT convenes bi-annually in July and November and publishes two issues of the Thai Journal of Ophthalmology per year. The mission of the RCOPT is:
  • Establishment of a curriculum for residency training program in ophthalmology and conducting Thai Board of Ophthalmology examination
  • Maintaining high moral and ethical standards for Thai ophthalmologists
  • Organizing scientific meetings, updated ophthalmological course, and other academic activities for members
  • Providing fund and support for academic and research activities in ophthalmology
  • Providing eye care knowledge for public and other medical professionals
  • Organizing various activities in collaboration with the government and non-governmental organizations for the prevention of blindness and eye health care
  • Promoting unity and co-operation between members, other national and international medical organizations
