The Hong Kong Ophthalmological SocietyThe Hong Kong Ophthalmological Society was inaugurated in August 1954. In 1983, the Hong Kong Ophthalmological Society hosted the 9th APAO Congress. The Hong Kong Ophthalmological Society organized the first annual scientific meeting of ophthalmology in 1989. This two- day event has since then held annually in early December. In 1995, the Hong Kong Ophthalmological Society successfully hosted the second time of the 15th APAO Congress in 1995. Hong Kong has also successfully bided for hosting the 2008 World Ophthalmology Congress (31st International Congress of Ophthalmology). It will be held jointly with the Chinese Ophthalmological Society and we have gained full support from the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology as well. We are expecting thousands of delegates from all over the world to join us in the meeting in 2008. |
