Fan LU, China

Fan Lu, MD, OD, is currently a Professor, Vice President of Wenzhou Medical College, and Executive Dean in the School of Optometry & Ophthalmology at the Wenzhou Medical College, and Vice Director of the Affiliated Eye Hospital and China National Optometry Research Center. She graduated from Wenzhou Medical College in 1986 majoring in general medicine. Following graduation, Dr Lu completed a residency in ophthalmology at the affiliated hospital. In 1991, Dr Lu completed a master’s degree in optics and ophthalmology. Dr Lu has been involved extensively with the advancement of eye care and optometric education. She is one of the pilots in the establishment of optometry as a medical discipline in China. In 2002, she received her doctor of optometry (OD) degree from the New England College of Optometry. Her current research centers on vision function and refractive surgery. Dr Lu’s earlier research and publication are concentrated on contact lenses and refractive techniques for children.
