APAO Congress 2008

The 23rd APAO Congress was held in conjunction with the WOC 2008 in Hong Kong (June 28 - July 02, 2008). In the following, key futures of the congress are highlighted.

Registration

The paid registration, including the trade exhibitors, has exceeded 13,019.

Scientific Program

With overwhelming support from over 40 organizations, over 1,140 invited speakers have presented lectures in 319 scientific sessions. There were also 205 free papers and over 1,960 international posters. The Chinese Program covered 510 oral presentations and 1,600 posters.

Sponsorship & Exhibition (All Sold out)

The Congress has received encouraging sponsorship support from the industry, all sponsorships targets has been met and all exhibition booths were sold out.

Promotion (E-based)

E-promotion through a monthly e-newsletter has been sent out to doctors around the globe. Our data-base has >30,000 doctors. A Congress banner was erected at the Departure Hall, an immigration counter was specially arranged to help the Congress delegates in the Arrival Hall of the busy Hong Kong Airport.

Venue (Voted one of the best)

The Congress was listed as one of the most important events held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center which was voted one of the best congress venues in 2007.

Social Program (The East meeting the West)

A series of social programs has been planned during the period of Congress. Spectacular oriental performances were staged in respective social programs including fluorescent dragon dance, martial arts performance by a World Champion etc. The Presidential Dinner was held at the Peak which offers a panorama view on the famous Victoria Harbor at night.

Surplus and Share for APAO

The surplus was at the region of USD 3,269,930; APAO will take 7% share i.e. ~USD 228,895.
