The Ophthalmological Society of Chinese Taipei

memberorg_logo_taipeiThe society is committed to actively participating in eye health care and promoting academic research in ophthalmology. As part of the society’s short-term objectives, charity eye disease services have been set up in rural communities across the country since 2004. The society’s long-term objectives lie in promoting preventive medicine, supporting basic and clinical research and establishing a nationwide registry system of ophthalmic disease.

Our other goal is to generate greater communication among ophthalmologists and eye workers worldwide on current developments in ophthalmology. In this pursuit, we have organized and hosted numerous international professional events since 1994. In 2001, we successfully hosted the 18th Annual Congress of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology. In 2016, the 31st APAO Annual Congress once again was held in Taipei, providing a platform for the exchange of knowledge and promoting advancements in the diagnosis and management of eye diseases in every sub-discipline of ophthalmology.
